(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Regional Airport (COU) is excited to announce that starting September 25th, passengers will once again be able to fly to Denver International Airport (DEN) and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) with United Airlines. This comes as a result of the airline's decision to resume service to these destinations after having to suspend flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
United Airlines will offer a once daily flight to Denver and two daily flights to Chicago O'Hare. The airline has also upgraded its aircraft product for these routes, providing first class seating on all flights. The twice-daily Chicago flights will be operated on a CRJ-550 aircraft, featuring 10 United First seats and 20 Economy Plus seats. Passengers can also expect amenities such as in-seat power, Wi-Fi, and increased on-board bag storage.
City Manager De'Carlon Seewood expressed his pride in working with United Airlines to expand routes for passengers at COU. He stated that bringing new destinations has always been a priority for the airport and this partnership will make business and leisure travel even more convenient for passengers.

The decision to add flights to Denver was based on a Passenger Demand Analysis from 2024, which showed it as one of the top requested destinations at COU. Additionally, it was identified as the top desired destination by attendees at the City's inaugural Community Summit held in March 2025.
The flight to Denver is made possible by the Small Community Air Service Development Program Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Mark Weithofer, managing director of Domestic Network Planning at United Airlines, expressed his pleasure in returning to Central Missouri and providing travelers with daily direct service on two-cabin aircrafts to their global hubs in Denver and Chicago.
The addition of these flights is not only beneficial for travelers but also crucial in supporting economic drivers and major employers in the community, such as the University of Missouri. University President Mun Choi stated that increased air service is an incredible resource for the university and the entire community. He also mentioned the university's ambitious plans to transform the world, including a new research reactor, and how quick and convenient air travel is essential in achieving their goals.
