The Columbia Police Department has recently announced the launch of several updates to its online Flock Transparency Portal. This portal provides citizens with a deeper understanding of how automated license plate reader (ALPR) technology is used in Columbia to ensure community safety while also protecting privacy.
The updated Flock Transparency Portal now includes new features such as public safety audit case and CAD numbers, which are viewable to the public for every search conducted by the department in the past 30 days. This addition aims to increase accountability and transparency within the department.
In addition, the portal now displays the top offense types searched by CPD over the previous 30 days, giving citizens insight into what types of crimes the technology is being used to investigate.
