(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police responded to a chaotic scene in the early hours of May 19, as a large disturbance and shots fired were reported in the 10 block of South Ninth Street. According to detectives, the incident began around 2 a.m. near the intersection of South Ninth Street and Broadway.

During the commotion, an adult female passenger in a nearby vehicle was struck by gunfire at approximately 3 a.m. Fortunately, her injuries were not life-threatening and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As authorities worked to piece together what had happened, they were able to make several arrests in connection with the incident. Tanikya Dunn, 19, from Sikeston, has been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Kalvin Johnson, 20, from Columbia, is facing three counts of first-degree assault as well as charges for unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Jearlissia Jackson, 18, also from Columbia, has been charged with first-degree assault.
