(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police officers were alerted to a potential threat on Sept. 18, 2024, after a citizen reported receiving threatening text messages from a family member. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Carlos Brown of Columbia, was subsequently arrested on charges of making a terrorist threat and harassment.
According to the victim, Brown had sent messages stating his intention to shoot her and also mentioned going to her school to find her. However, there is no evidence that Brown actually entered any school property.

In response to this incident, the Columbia Police Department has emphasized their commitment to taking all threats seriously and working closely with Columbia Public Schools' Safety and Security staff to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.
