(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia has announced that the sidewalk in front of the McKinney Building, located at 411 E. Broadway, will be temporarily closed starting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of pedestrians while structural repairs are being made to the building.
According to city officials, the closure is expected to last for several weeks. During this time, pedestrians will be directed to use safe crossings at both Fourth and Fifth streets through the use of signs.

The McKinney Building, a century-old property with a rich history, was purchased by the City of Columbia in August 2023 as part of efforts to preserve its historic significance. Over the years, it has served various purposes such as a jazz venue, candy store, shopping outlet and African American community center.
