(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The Love Your Block Program, a community initiative aimed at improving neighborhoods, will be hosting an event on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 5:30-7 p.m. to celebrate its accomplishments for the year. The event will take place at the City-owned green space on Sexton Road, just west of Garth Avenue and is open to all members of the community.
Attendees can expect food, information tables and guest speakers at the event. Among the participating organizations are the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Missouri Conservation Corps and the City of Columbia.
Columbia is one of 16 cities currently participating in the Love Your Block Program, which is funded by the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University. This year, Love Your Block has provided funding for 11 mini-grants for resident-led projects in central Columbia. A second round of mini-grants will be available for neighborhood projects in 2026.

The event coincides with Good Neighbor Week, an annual event organized by the University of Missouri Extension that runs from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4. Good Neighbor Week encourages residents to connect with their neighbors and build stronger communities.
The City of Columbia's Housing & Neighborhood Services Department is responsible for managing the Love Your Block program locally. For more information about the upcoming event or about the program itself, interested individuals can visit CoMo.gov/volunteer or email a designated address for inquiries.
