(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ The City of Columbia is set to hold an interested parties meeting on Saturday, July 27th at the McKinney Building located at 411 E. Broadway. The meeting will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and aims to gather feedback from the community regarding the future use of the historic building.

The McKinney Building, which is one of 24 locations in Columbia recognized on the African American Heritage Trail, has a rich history dating back over a century. It has served as a jazz venue, candy store, shopping outlet, and most notably, an African American community center.

Attendees of the meeting will have the opportunity to explore the space and learn more about its significance in Columbia's local history. They will also be treated to live music from Show Me Brass and have the chance to speak with members of the Mayor's Task Force on McKinney Building Planning.

The task force, which consists of 15 members appointed by the mayor, represents various industries within the community including experts in local history, music studies, and downtown businesses. Their goal is to gather input from the public and use it to recommend a plan for the building's use to the City Council.
