(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City's Community Connector program is hosting a meet and greet event on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 5-7 p.m. at the Activity & Recreation Center located at 1701 W. Ash St. This event aims to provide community members with an opportunity to learn more about the program and engage in meaningful discussions with the Community Connectors team.
The team, which consists of three part-time community connector specialists and the City's engagement coordinator, will be present at the event to introduce themselves and discuss various engagement opportunities available in the community. Attendees will also have the chance to provide feedback on the City's current engagement strategies.
According to Engagement and Public Communications Manager Sydney Olsen, who oversees the program, building a strong community requires collaboration and understanding. She believes that the Community Connector program is a great way to promote community involvement and ensure that residents can actively shape the future of their city.

The theme of this event is inspired by the Stone Soup folktale, where each member of a community contributes an ingredient to make a delicious meal. Similarly, this event will focus on how the unique differences among Columbia's residents are what make their community rich and vibrant. Attendees can also look forward to enjoying refreshments, including soup, during the event.
To ensure there are enough refreshments for all attendees, registration is required at rb.gy/mpqi3h. The Community Connectors program was established in 2024 with goals of elevating marginalized voices, fostering dialogue, and building trust between community members and city government.
