(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ The City of Columbia will be closed on Monday, May 29th in observance of Memorial Day. Residential curbside refuse collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week and the landfill will also be closed. Collection crews will begin their routes at 6:30 a.m., so residents should have their refuse at the curb no later than then. The Household Hazardous Waste collection scheduled for Saturday, June 3rd has been canceled in order to concentrate staff on residential collection.
Go COMO, Columbia's public transit system, will not operate and parking enforcement will also be suspended on Memorial Day. The Activity & Recreation Center (ARC) will operate at reduced hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with rec swim available from noon to 2:30 p.m., and the Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center open from noon to 5 p.m.. Administrative offices for both the Police and Fire departments will be closed, but all other emergency services remain available. Residents can download the COMO Recycle and Trash app for collection day reminders and service notifications, or contact the Contact Center at 573-874-CITY (2489) with any questions concerning the collection schedule. For emergencies related to Water & Light, Sewer and Stormwater, please visit CoMo.gov/Utilities for phone numbers to contact staff members. Columbia Police urges residents to drive safely, unimpaired and within posted speed limits on Memorial Day.
