(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - As the holiday season approaches, the City of Columbia has announced that its offices will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1 in observance of Christmas Day and New Year's Day respectively. This closure will also impact several city services.
According to city officials, residential curbside trash collection will not take place on the observed holidays and will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week. To stay updated on collection schedules, residents are encouraged to download the COMO Recycle and Trash App which provides reminders and service notifications on collection day. Any questions regarding the schedule can be directed to the Contact Center at 573.874.CITY (2489). In addition, the landfill will also be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
For those looking to dispose of their live Christmas trees, they can drop them off at one of three yard waste drop-off centers: Capen Park, Parkside or the landfill. Alternatively, customers can cut their trees into smaller pieces that can fit into their roll cart. However, artificial trees and wreaths should be disposed of with regular trash as they are not recyclable.
