(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia City Council Approves Electric Utility Rate Increase
At the recent City Council meeting on September 2nd, the Columbia City Council voted to approve a 2% rate increase for the City's Electric Utility. This decision was made in order to help cover increased operation and maintenance expenses, maintain cash reserve levels, and ensure adequate debt coverage.
The projected revenue increase from this rate hike is estimated to be $2.8 million. The new rate structure will go into effect with the first billing cycle in October. As a result, the standard residential customer charge will see a slight increase from $22 per month to $22.44 per month. The usage rates will vary depending on the customer's rate class, and a breakdown of these rates can be found at CoMo.gov/utilities/utility-rates.
