(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia residents who are interested in running for City Council have the opportunity to do so for Ward 3, Ward 4, or mayor. According to a press release from the City Clerk's Office, candidates must file a petition for office with the office in order to be considered for the positions.
The petitions and instructions can be obtained from the City Clerk's Office at City Hall, located at 701 E. Broadway. The office is open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and city holidays.
In order to qualify as a candidate for Ward 3 or Ward 4, individuals must be registered voters and residents of the ward they wish to represent. For those interested in running for mayor, they must also be registered voters and residents of Columbia.

It is important to note that candidates for all three offices cannot hold any lucrative public office or position within the city government during their term.
Candidates for Ward 3 and Ward 4 must gather at least 50 signatures from registered voters who reside in their respective wards. Those running for mayor must obtain at least 100 signatures from residents and registered voters of Columbia.
The deadline to file is January 14th, 2025 at 5 p.m. The election will take place on April 8th, 2025. Maps of the wards can be found on CoMo.Gov/Boards/city-council/wards-map/.
