~ Today, St. Louis officials announced the locations of this year's Summer Fun STL youth summer camp across the city to keep young people engaged throughout the summer months in safe and supportive environments.
Wilford Pinkney, Director of the Office of Violence Prevention, said "We're working collaboratively to make sure youth have a safe place to go to have fun this summer. We're appreciative of our community partners and city agencies for working together to create better opportunities for our youth this summer and help keep them safe."
The City of St. Louis has partnered with community providers to expand summer camps, programs, pop-up events, and job opportunities through a combination of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding. The ten locations open in June and run through the summer, providing recreational and educational activities and meals to hundreds of youth ages 5 to 17. The Office of Violence Prevention will also continue to run monthly community-building events in neighborhoods across St. Louis following successful events in Gravois Park and Baden, with the next scheduled in Mount Pleasant Park on June 17.
