~ The City of St. Louis is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its residents and public spaces this weekend. After discussions with city leaders, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the Board of Alderman, and members of the business community, several precautionary measures will be put in place.
One of these measures includes having Behavioral Health Response providers available to assist law enforcement in engaging with juveniles. These providers, who are part of the Office of Violence Prevention, will be able to connect youth with necessary services.
In addition, the Excise Division and Building Division are working with downtown stakeholders to enforce existing liquor and occupancy laws. This is in response to reported incidents over the past weekend and as a preparation for any potential incidents this coming weekend.

The Streets Department is also prepared to deploy traffic calming measures in areas where dangerous driving incidents may occur.
To prevent any further dangerous or violent behavior, a short-term curfew will be implemented for young people in parts of downtown. This curfew applies to individuals aged 17 and under in the Downtown and Downtown West areas from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20th; Saturday, March 21st; and Sunday, March 22nd.
Exceptions to this curfew include being accompanied by a parent or guardian or an adult approved by a parent; going directly home from work, school events, or religious or community activities within one hour of their end time; or being outside their own home or a next-door neighbor's home without any concerns raised.
City officials will closely monitor conditions and work closely with SLMPD and community partners to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during this time. The City urges everyone to comply with these measures for their own safety and that of others.
