~ The City of Springfield is currently in search of qualified candidates to fill three vacancies on the Board of Public Utilities. The board, which is responsible for overseeing the city's electricity, natural gas, water, broadband, and public transportation services, has two reappointments and three vacancies with specific requirements.

According to the city's press release, two of the vacancies are open to City residents while the third is reserved for a City Utilities customer who does not reside within the city limits. Interested applicants for the two City resident positions must have at least two years of residency and business or professional experience. These positions are for three-year terms.

For the third vacancy, which is open to customers of City Utilities who do not live in Springfield, applicants must also have business or professional experience and have been a customer for at least two years prior to their appointment. This position also has a three-year term.

City Utilities of Springfield (CU) has been serving the community since 1945 and currently provides services to 111,000 customers across 320 square miles in southwest Missouri. The utility prides itself on offering some of the lowest electricity prices in the country and providing all utilities on one convenient bill.

The Board of Public Utilities consists of 11 members who are appointed by the Springfield City Council for three-year terms. Their main responsibilities include setting policies for customer service and determining long-term goals for the utility as outlined in the City Charter. The board meets monthly at 3 p.m. on the last Thursday in the City Utilities Board room located at 301 E. Central St.

Interested individuals can apply by visiting springfieldmo.gov or downloading an application form from there website. Completed forms should be returned to the City Clerk's Office located at 840 Boonville Ave by October 28th.
