(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - On Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, City of Columbia Water & Light crews will be conducting electrical work on West Broadway. The eastbound lane of the road will be closed starting at 9:30 a.m. in order to complete the necessary tasks.

The work will involve boring under the pavement at the intersection with Westwood Avenue to connect wires to two utility poles. The first area of work will be located west of Westwood Avenue and once that is completed, crews will move on to a second area east of Westwood Avenue. Flagmen will be present to direct traffic around the work zone.

The entire project is expected to take approximately 2½ hours. During this time, access to all drive approaches will remain open. However, motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are advised to exercise caution when in the work zone or consider taking alternate routes.

This temporary closure is necessary for the safety and efficiency of the electrical work being conducted by Water & Light crews. The City of Columbia appreciates everyone's cooperation and understanding during this time.
