(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Utilities and Stantec Consulting to Host Presentation on Cost of Service Study
The City of Columbia Utilities and Stantec Consulting will be holding a public presentation to discuss the ongoing cost of service study. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Feb. 5, 2025, at the Council Chambers in City Hall.
The cost of service study, being conducted by Stantec Consulting, will examine various aspects of the Water Utility's operations including revenue sufficiency, cost of service, rate design, and customer impact. This study is conducted every five years to account for any changes in expenses or technology. The last study was completed in 2018 with recommendations implemented in 2019. The upcoming study will project costs and necessary revenue for the next ten years.
Stantec Consulting has been tasked with examining the Water Utility's revenue sufficiency, cost of service, rate design, and customer impact. These four areas are crucial in determining how much revenue is needed to cover expenses while also balancing the impact on customers. The following questions will be addressed during the study:

The public presentation will be recorded and available for viewing on the City of Columbia website at any time. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments during the meeting. For those unable to attend, questions and comments can be submitted online through BeHeard.CoMo.gov until Feb. 19. All submissions received by this date will be forwarded to Stantec for consideration.
