(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia has announced the launch of a new monthly discussion series called "Let's Talk Local." This initiative will be led by City Council members and City staff and will take place in each of the city's six wards. The first meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 26 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Downtown Optimist Clubhouse, hosted by First Ward Council Member Valerie Caroll.

The purpose of these meetings is to provide residents with an opportunity to engage with their local government and learn more about important community topics. At the upcoming meeting, attendees will have the chance to hear about the "Love Your Block" grant program, which supports neighborhood projects in central Columbia. Additionally, City staff will be present to discuss litter pickup, neighborhood dumpster events in 2025, tree planting opportunities, code enforcement issues, and other community needs.

City Manager De'Carlon Seewood expressed excitement about this new initiative, stating that it will allow residents to connect with City staff and council members and share their insights on issues that matter most to them. He encourages all residents to participate in these meetings and contribute to addressing important community matters.

It is important to note that these meetings are open to all residents from any ward. Refreshments will be provided for attendees. To ensure a smooth registration process, interested individuals are asked to register at CoMo.gov/local-ward-1.
