(COLUMBIA, MO) - Due to concerns that morning rain could combine with below-freezing pavement temperatures to create icy conditions, a 17-person City of Columbia Public Works crew will report to work on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 6 a.m. to respond. Their primary focus will be on preventing slickness by applying treatment to first and second priority roads, as well as to bridges, hills and intersections.

Temperatures are forecast to rise through the morning to potentially reach highs in the 40s by afternoon, and pavement temperatures will likely be above freezing by noon. Some rain may occur later in the day. Public Works advises motorists to drive with extreme caution if you are unable to stay home, especially on Saturday morning.
