(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia has announced that starting Friday, October 10 at 5 p.m. until Sunday, October 12 at 5 a.m., designated taxi and rideshare stands in the downtown area will be exclusively for rideshare use. This temporary change is being made to better accommodate the start time of a home game.
The five designated stands are located on Broadway, Cherry Street, Locust Street, Ninth Street, and Tenth Street. These stands will be clearly marked with Taxi Stand signage and parking meters in the area will be bagged to ensure that only rideshare vehicles are allowed to park there.

According to City ordinance Sec. 14-295, during these hours anyone using a rideshare app in the downtown area will be directed to the nearest stand for pickup. Rideshare drivers will also be instructed to pick up their passengers at the designated stands.
The purpose of this change is to keep traffic flowing on the main arterial roads in downtown and improve the movement of people into and out of the area. By designating specific stands for rideshare use, it is expected that there will be less congestion and smoother traffic flow during this busy time.
The City of Columbia encourages all residents and visitors to utilize these designated rideshare stands during this temporary expansion of the ordinance. This change is just one step towards improving transportation in downtown Columbia.
