(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ The City of Columbia is offering a new opportunity for residents to improve their neighborhoods through the Love Your Block Mini-Grants program. Starting on Friday, Feb. 14, eligible projects in central and northeast Columbia can apply for grants up to $2,500.
According to the City's Housing and Neighborhood Services Department, applications will be available online at CoMo.gov/volunteer or in person at their office located at 11 N. Seventh St. The deadline for submissions is March 21 and recipients will be announced on April 7. All projects must be completed by Aug. 31.
The mini-grants are intended to support various community initiatives such as community gardens, tree planting, public art projects, minor home repairs, and neighborhood pride and identification. This program aims to empower residents to take action in improving their own neighborhoods.

To assist with the application process, City staff will be available at several locations throughout February and March. These include the Columbia Public Library on Feb. 25 and March 8, the ARC on Feb. 27 and March 5, as well as during the Community Summit on March 15 at City Hall.
Columbia is one of only 16 cities selected for the Love Your Block program's 2024-2026 cohort and is the first city in Missouri to participate. The funding for this program comes from the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University and is specifically designated for projects that enhance quality of life in central and northeast neighborhoods.
