(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia has announced the hiring of Paul Eisenstein as the new Economic Development Director and President of Regional Economic Development Inc. (REDI). Eisenstein will officially begin his role on March 10, bringing with him a wealth of experience in economic development in Missouri.

City Manager De'Carlon Seewood expressed confidence in Eisenstein's ability to contribute to the growth and success of Columbia. "His relevant experience in economic development in Missouri will provide valuable insight into attracting new investments to Columbia, creating job opportunities, and diversifying our local economy," Seewood stated.

Eisenstein has been working at the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) since 2017, serving as the Senior Director of Operations since September 2023. Prior to this role, he held positions as Director of DED's Strategy and Performance Division, as well as various leadership and project management roles.

Before joining DED, Eisenstein worked at Y Scouts executive search firm in Phoenix, Arizona as a Leadership Search Consultant. He also has a background in the nonprofit sector, having worked for organizations such as The Mission Continues, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and AmeriCorps in St. Louis and San Francisco.

Eisenstein's education includes a graduate certificate in public policy from the University of Missouri, an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Affairs from Saint Louis University.

In regards to his new role with the City of Columbia, Eisenstein expressed enthusiasm for the community and its potential for growth. "Columbia is a thriving community with so many assets and opportunities for families and individuals who live and work here," he said. "I am excited to step into this role, partner with stakeholders, and help ensure a vibrant economic future for Columbia and all of Boone County."
