~ As the 70th Springfield Police Academy prepares to graduate its newest class of officers, the excitement and anticipation is palpable. The graduation ceremony will take place on Friday, July 13 at Parkcrest Baptist Church, located at 816 W. Republic Rd. The event will begin at 7 p.m.

This year's graduating class consists of 19 individuals who have dedicated themselves to 1,099 hours (27 weeks) of rigorous law enforcement training. Upon completion of their training, these officers will be paired with experienced field-training officers (FTOs) for an additional 520 hours (13 weeks) of on-the-job training.

After successfully completing the FTO program, these new officers will join the ranks of the Uniform Operations Bureau. The class is made up of seventeen males and two females, with a diverse range of educational backgrounds including a master's degree, ten bachelor's degrees, five associate's degrees, and four with prior or current military experience.

The media and public are invited to attend this momentous occasion and show their support for these dedicated individuals as they embark on their careers in law enforcement.
